EgBride Travel would like to bring your attention to a very important topic. Egypt will switch to winter time on October 31, 2024, by turning clocks back 60 minutes. This change is due to Law No. 24 of 2023. Egypt observes summer time between the last Friday in April and the last Thursday in October, changing from UTC+02:00 to UTC+03:00. This shift shortens the last Friday in April to 23 hours and extends the last Thursday in October to 25 hours. DST started on April 28, 2023, and ended on October 26, 2023, making Egypt the only African country using DST in 2024. Summer time was first introduced by the British in 1940, stopped in 1945, and resumed in 1957. The Egyptian government planned to cancel summer time before the 2011 revolution but finally did so on April 20, 2011. The government reinstated summer time in May 2014, with exceptions for Ramadan. A poll in 2015 led to the temporary cancellation of summer time, with further studies planned. In March 2023, the government announced the return of DST from April to October.
